Biography
Zuchu, born Zuhura Othman Soud on November 22, 1993, is one of Tanzania’s most successful and influential Bongo Flava artists. Hailing from Zanzibar, she is signed to WCB Wasafi, the label founded by Diamond Platnumz, where her talent quickly set her apart. She rose to widespread fame following the release of her 2020 EP I Am Zuchu, with hit songs like “Wana” and “Sukari” dominating charts and social media.
Coming from a strong musical background as the daughter of legendary Taarab singer Khadija Kopa, Zuchu blends vocal strength, emotional songwriting, and captivating dance moves into her artistry. Her impact has been historic, including becoming the first East African female artist to receive a YouTube Silver Plaque within one week. With multiple awards to her name, such as the AFRIMMA Emerging Artist Award, Zuchu continues to represent a powerful new generation of African female stars on both regional and global stages.
